Mark A. Thomas is the newly created Senior Vice President of Partnerships for the New York City Economic Development Corporation, managing and driving strategic industry engagement and business development. For more than 16 years, Mark has worked at the intersection of public-private partnerships and civic innovation, serving as the Director of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Operations Innovation Team and piloting Fuse Corps’ executive fellowship program in the City of Los Angeles.
Mark has also served as the publisher of City Limits magazine and Deputy Director of the think-tank Center for an Urban Future. The Atlanta-native began his career at Georgia-Pacific Corporation, shaping CSR and sustainability, and has been prominently featured by news publications and conferences. Mark has counseled local and national policy leaders and industry innovators and serves as a mentor for startups and emerging companies in the civic and new media space. Mark earned his MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), MPA from Columbia University’s School of International Affairs, and Bachelors in Business from the University of Georgia, which honored him as one of its Top 40 Alumni under 40.
